Am planning a trip up across the border at the end of August and am looking to hit the trails of Mabie and Dalbeattie (might give Ae a miss after reading a post below)

Can anyone recommend a nice B&B or decent campsite in that area ?

Try http://www.marthrown.com which is next to Mabie. Not stayed there but its in the Cool Camping book for Scotland and they also have the roundhouse if you don’t fancy a tent.

Spent 4 days there last year. Great location and Kippford Village is lovely.

Ae is one of the better trails IMO .. you have to ride Kirroughtree it’s the 90% singletrack the best trail of all the Stanes
