Does anyone have a GPX route for Scotland Coast to Coast off road.

    Thanks

It might help if you gave some indication of where you wanted to start and finish and how long you expected to take.

Open to suggestions – can it be done in 4 days – family wants to go to the Edinburgh festival for a week at the end of August, but I only fancy a couple of days at the festival and was planning the coast to coast ride as an alternative

Southern Upland Way. Portpatrick to cockburnspath,212 miles you will need 4 days and decent weather

I think I might be interested in this, but know virtually nothing about it. Is there a definitive route, as such, or is it purely whatever floats your boat – I understand Scotland is a big place?

Southern upland way is god awful at any time of year. Why not take the train up to Montrose and head over to braemar/ Feshie/Laggan/Fort Augustus then either an easy stroll back to the train at Fort William/Spean Bridge. If you’ve got more days to burn continue on to the proper coast at Mallaig or Inverie for some proper wilderness biking

Boblo and I did a coast to coast – Skye to Montrose in five days. we caught the train up and back. It may be doable in four days but 3/4 of our first day was spent getting up there.

I’m inspired by that! Had also considered the east highland way then Speyside way, but haven’t looked at it in detail.
Great glen way is a definite for me this year, probably incorporating laggan And learnie.

Done (most) of the ft William to Montrose route last year it was ok but prob won’t try again it’s just not much fun. Cairngorm loop is a much better ride done in about 2 1/2 days without much bother and the trails are fun

I had my own reasons for choosing the Fort Augustus – Ruthven route I rode but I also reckon it’s a better option than the EHW.
