I’ve just put a pair of “dry-clean only” suit trousers (95% wool content) through a 40C wash, mistaking them for another pair.

What chance they survive the trauma? Will they be shrunk or distorted beyond salvage?

You may get away with it. When they come out, whiel still wet, stand on the belt line and pull on the bottom of the leg. Should sort any very slight shrinkage.

Why didn’t you stop the machine and take them out once you realised ?

    I can’t give a manly answer to this question…

Why didn’t you stop the machine and take them out once you realised ?

Blissfully unaware until I emptied the machine.

Clearly I have some soul-searching to do.

Surely even dwarfs who aren’t tame need trousers?

    Fairy muff.

When I read the op I pictured you sat in front of the machine, looking through the window at them waiting for the machine to finish, with a sad look on your face 🙂

Give them to a schoolboy? They have shorter legs.
Then it will be schoolboy win rather than schoolboy error.

Aha! The solution was staring me in the face!
