    Fixie Inc – Peacemaker

Looks really nice, £1000 or so all in, so it's not cheap… but really like the clean lines and the beltdrive setup!

Just cashing in on the 'to cool for school' fakenger crowd? Or a proper practical round-town commuter?

Beltdrive, whats the advantage over chains?

Is it ebb? otherwise, how do you set it up for different ratios?

    Does look clean though

simples, you don't need an EBB, its a track bike, with you know what do they cal them adjustable dropouts, the ones they use on track bikes, ahhh thats it track ends! You cant change the belt either, but doubt they ever wear out like chains.

had a test ride on the old version, very very nice bike but a bit impractical for me (was in the sale and on bike to work too would have been a steal ). think the geometry's changed slighty to give it a longer top tube for flat bars now so the new one maybe better for me…

    I think it looks great.

I wouldn't pay a grand for any single speed but thats your choice.

Unless it is excellent quality and has some hub gears-do you live in Florida where its flat?

Er you CAN change the belt!

The seat stay unbolts half way down!

How can you not be able to change the belt? How did they get it in there?

cant see it my self – where ? the two little protrusions that look like a frame lock mount ?

treks have bolt on drop outs for this purpose.

I'm going to guess lighter and lubrication (ie maintenance) free

no, thats exactly how orange have been doing it on the prototype P7's.

Looks more like a car fan belt, the ones on oranges were under some unbelievable tension and had a much finer tooth profile, looked more like a cars cambelt.

    from their website:

The JigSaw frame coupler enables you to insert the belt into the frame without any bending of the tube ends. That avoids any stress to the welds and keeps your frame well-aligned. It offers a detachable connection that can handle bending and torsional forces perfectly.

Not sure where this bit is though, not clear from the images on show?

ones on oranges were under some unbelievable tension

made for an awful ride to imho …

treks district requires a tool to set tension .. it has a much less "exercise" bike feel to it

Maybe he meant you can't buy the belt?

I think there are a few German companies that will sell bike belts.

Shame Drive belts for cars don't fit-go to local car dealer part for a new belt would be handy.

Without using one I would not guess how strong the belts are but assume it is fine otherwise they would not sell the belt driven bikes.

Bike looks cool but I'm old enough to look for functionality and buy an estate…
