Just wondered if anyone else had done this…. and if so how it was for chainline etc?

I keep juggling prices and gear ratio calcs, its tempting….

Chain will be fine.
As will gear ratio.

Slx full groupset. One of the cheap ones merlin was knocking out a while back. That and a short stem/wide bar combination and it’s a brilliant bike once again

I did mine by just adding a 40 tooth expander ring to a 985 cassette and installing an absolute black narrow wide chain ring. 32 11/40 seems best for trails and the 32 ring provides a slightly better chain line as it has a slight standoff.
