I agree Rik – really versatile looking machine.

Although a Kona Dew Drop does the same thing (with less finesse) for a lot less money!

Yes but the Salsa is steel. I just could not image having a aluminum touring bike.

Rik – Big birthday (50th) coming up soon, and I'm kinda hoping the wife's been taking notice of my less than subtle hints about the very same bike. I really regret not getting the la cruz when it was available, but I think this is almost as nice.

Salsa frame, forks and seatclamp £400

I don't think that's expensive for all that kit. What makes it expensive is if I get one will be having to buy a nice set of road disc wheels and bb7 road discs!! Rather than just a straight swop from my current road bike

400 quid, not bad actually suppose thought they were more than that.

There was a good review of this on road.cc a while back…

It does look lovely and I'm sure if I owned one I'd love it

But if I ever tour again off tarmac I'm having suspension forks. Looking back I spent whole days having my wrists arms and shoulder pumelled on "roads". Not pleasant and not necessary

I have a pair of Marzocchi Z2 in the shed just in case….

a buddy just built one up, it's lovely. Looks better than in the pics. Frame quality is stunning. I have a Salsa Casseroll – same comment applies re frame quality, very high attention to detail.
