I’m at a wedding on Saturday in the Rutland area so thought I’d bring the bike along for a sneaky ride while the wife gets her hair done? Can anyone recommend any good rides nearby? I’ll have about 3 hrs to kill if that helps. Cheers

You could always do three laps of Rutland water 😉

Erm – do you just wanna :
    A) get some miles in, or
    B) go for a proper off-road jaunt?

If it’s A) then you should probably get along to Rutland Water. 25 mile loop with the peninsula; undulating mix of paths, gravel and few bits of road. Park at the North Car Park – Whitwell and there’s a decent sized shop to nose round as well. It’s good for a training ride.
If it’s B), then you are pretty out of luck unless you wanna just go for a bridleway explore……

If the weather is particularly poor, you could always go for a ride around Rutland Cycling’s stores – it’ll be totally empty
They’ll tell you it’s full but they’re lying

Cheers Guys. Doesn’t look like I’ll be having as much fun as I hoped. Will still get some miles in though.

Having ridden the Tour of Rutland sportive the last couple of years, I can assure that Rutland is certainly not flat.

No idea about off road though, I’m afraid.

If you are just killing time, a lap of the reservoir and the shop should suffice – how long will it take to get her done anyway……

Here you go – some hills, some singletrack and some interesting areas

    From Wittering Village South

    From Wittering Village North

Both fun in different ways, but the Old Sulehay has a great play area and singletrack on it. You might see the black roe deer as well!

Thanks TooTall. That looks just what I’m after.
Swadey – I daren’t ask. I imagine longer than it takes for me to get mine cut though but that works for me. More time on the bike!!

    Cheers all
