Was thinking of a set of Conti Gators 35c . Anyone have any probs getting them to fit? Any other suggestions would be handy. The rims are Mavic 719s and they’ll be for touring but I want them light-ish.

35s will be absolutely fine on that rim

Thanks, I’d have thought so too, they are only 19mm wide rims but my mate said Gators are notoriously hard to get on and off.

Most road rims are about 15mm internally, but some of the newer ones are up to 19mm internal width these days (designed to run 23c tyres on). 35c’s will be absolutely fine, would say 23’s might be a push but would still be a possibility.

Hmmm, realised Conti Gatorskins don’t actually come in a 35c, smallest is a 32. Maybe I’ll give them a go. Any other recommendations for a tough 35c road tyre?

I’ve got Conti 4 Seasons 23s on my mavic 719s. No issues at all.

Conti Sport Contact Reflex 700x37C on Shimano MT65 (19mm IIRC) working very well here! On by hand, too – no tyre levers required.

I’m running 700×28 Conti GP4s on 19mm rims and it works really well.

Thanks, seems like Mavic’s recommendation of a min of a 1.5″ tyre (38mm) for the TN719 is pretty conservative.
