If you run power next to data, the GOVERNMENT will be able to intercept your secret writings on the internet by using their monitoring systems in the power stations. They’ll then know who you talk to and what kind of depraved porn you like. Twisted pairs are used to confuse the GOVERNMENT and make them think it’s next door.

Not permitted under Part P. Communication cables cannot share the same conduit.

NB I made this mistake wiring our workshop and had to rip the CAT-5 out. Twas a right pain getting all four cables inside a 50m length of steel tubing as well…

I believe it was me that pointed that out to you on here 😉

You can do it it’s just that the Cat5 must be compliant and have adequate insulation.

    Quite possibly.

I tend to do stuff first, then read the regs afterwards….

I recon you’ve probably got an extension lead, and if you haven’t, go buy one. Go to an electrical shop, or screwfix, and buy an outdoor socket for your house and wire it in to the consumer unit or ring main. job done and about £50.
