  • Running 180mm floating rear rotors on Giant XTC composite? Advice.

    Morning.

I've just bought a new SLX brakeset for my bike and I'm going to buy some rotors as they are not supplied. Ideally I want to use F/R 180mm Shimano or Hope floating rotors. The 180 and 160 Hopes are the same price so I want the larger size – who wouldn't? 🙄

I know a standard 180mm rotor fits on the back as I fitted one to my rear wheel ages ago as a dummy run (it's only adding 8mm to the radius of the disc after all) but I didn't bother buying the adaptor and left them the standard 164mm size. I can't say I've seen many other XTC composites running that size on the rear though.

If anyone runs a 180 on the rear, let me know your views – especially floating.

    Thanks 🙂
