I'm toying with treating her to a new set wheels built up with Sun Ringle Pink Camo rims, and Hope hubs.

Does anyone have any experience of those Sun rims? Would the 32's be strong enough for front and back, for XC (no freeride or DH)
Judging by the weight and the width (and the price!) they will be fine for DH as well. Friend has the winter camo ones on his DH bike and they dont make a light wheel but plenty strong enough.
They're not that light but Pink, for my GF, is more important than extreme lightweight!
those rims are seriously heavy (240g's heavier than Stan's flows) why not get some normal XC rims (Stans/Dt etc) and get them powdercoated?
That way you get the best of both worlds.
I've got those rims (in black) on my freeride bike and they are monstrous. Seriously, they are designed for world cup dh and thirty foot hucks.....best be sure your gf can lug the extra weight around.
A set of burgtec disco camo hubs would be the ticket though. Maybe built up around a Nicolia 2mxtb in tank girl camo!!??
Been doing some googling, and also asked the same quesion on Bike Radar, and I've come to the same conclusion.
Nice idea but honestly, if it were for me I would rather have a lightweight set of wheels than some pretty pink ones that were overkill for my style of riding.

Mrs_oab is a wee slip of a lass - and lightweight wheels/tyres made a huuuuuuuage difference to her riding and feeling less knackered. Spend the cash on some nice light rims n hubs n tyres (mrs_oab gets away with Conti Supersonic's - never a puncture....)
