    Hi all.

Heading up to Boot in Eskdale for the Beer festival in two weeks and taking the bikes.
I’m looking for some route suggestions for a ride that MsD can attempt. She’s not the most hardcore of mtb’ers but she has done 3 CRC marathon routes at the 25/30K level.

We were thinking of riding through Wasdale to the pub at Wasdale Head before heading back, up and over into Eskdale finishing in the village of Boot.
Thing is, i’ve not ridden that route before, although we did ride part of it the other year before bailing on the route and taking the shortcut over Black Ghyll.

Are we biting off more than we can chew considering what level of riding MsD is at? Don’t want to push her too hard and risk getting stuck on a Cumbrian hillside with her not being able to go further.

You should have no problems. The bit round Burnmoor Tarn and drop into Boot is great.

    Ooops, got the route wrong.

Out of Eskdale at the Western end, into Mitredale and through mitredale into Wasdale to Wasdale Head before coming back via the tarn and down that great run into Boot.
How hard is the bit from the Black Ghyll onwards to Wasdale Head and the climb back to Burnmoor Tarn?

It’s not bad. It’s all rideable,

The Esk trail to ravenglass is nice. If going over burnmoor, stay right past the lodge and pick up the other BW descent to boot.
