I’ve just bought a new set of wheels and thought that I’d replace my rotors at the same time.

I’ve bought plain steel (single piece, so no aluminium spider) Zee 6 bolt rotors to replace my old XT one. Previously I’ve just bolted the rotors straight to the hub but the instructions show a washer that appears to be circle of metal cut to sit under the head of the rotor bolts; all I have in the packaging are the rotor bolts and the silly little Shimano fold over clips (which I’ve never used.

Do I need this washer or can I just bolt the rotors straight to the hubs as I’ve always done?

Never heard of them, might be something new.

Only ever used the shimano fold over tabs, can’t imagine how they’d be much use under the bolts heads anyway, got a photo of them?

I think they ship a big washer with new cassettes, it’s about 3mm thick 😉

I’ve seen something similar, I thought it was designed to space out the rotors on a second set of wheels so you can swap wheels without adjusting the caliper.
