  • Roof bars – rubber insert to stop noise?

    Hi all

I have just fitted my new vauxhall roof bars to my new car and wondered if anyone knows of anywhere I can buy the rubber strips that sit in the t-section of the aero bar as the noise is ridiculous.

In the meantime does anyone have any tips? Will a thick electrical tape over the section be effective?

    Cheers

That or gaffa tape- although it will leave residue on your bars..
Does the maker of them not sell spares? Go onto roofbox.co.uk if not.
Come to think of it why havent you got the rubber strips if theyre new?

All mine have come with the rubbers included. Used for load carrying to stop slipping.

They should have come with the inserts – I’d be onto the seller to get them FOC. If they are a vauxhall sold kit they’ll probably be just rebadged Thule stuff anyway (at a higher price usually!) and if they are the rubber bits are a standard spare part. http://www.roofracks.co.uk/Thule-Products/Spare-Parts/_/?productID=aero&gclid=CMrIg4G81b4CFUfLtAodE0oAFQ

I lost mine and picked up a set on eBay for about £10. Buying new they were surprisingly expensive.

Sell them and buy some Whispbars instead.
And more usefully probably, the rubbers should come with the bars you have.
