I’ve just given my forks (Revelations – 09 I think – with MC damper) a somewhat overdue service, and after putting them back together the lockout doesn’t work properly. Currently they’ve got a couple an inch or two of travel before they lock, and even when they do lock it’s reasonably easy to overcome the lockout.
I’ve tried the obvious stuff: the floodgate is turned fully clockwise, and there seems to be enough oil. I’ve measured the oil twice to the amount in the service manual, and then tried adding a bit to make sure that the base of the damper is in the oil.
I’ve currently got enough oil in the leg that if you insert the damper with the lockout on, it hits the oil just before it reaches the top of the thread, although that’s after adding more oil than specified. Is that about right?
I’m pretty sure that it’s not oil leaking into the lower leg, as I’ve still got full travel, and it doesn’t seem to be getting any worse. I’ve tried swapping the lower damper O-ring back to the one it had before the service.
Any other suggestions? I hardly ever use the lock out so it shouldn’t really bother me that it’s not working properly… but it does.
