I know my RS forks. I know them very well, Ive had literally scores of them apart but this time I can’t see the wood for the trees.

Problem is very simple on the face of it – The fork (2012 SID) won’t lock out properly. It’s the lever – It’s not pulling enough cable for some reason.
I’m sure it was working before I took them apart, I’ve serviced them, the oil level is fine and the fork locks fine if you turn the pulley by hand, but the lever isn’t pulling said pulley far enough.
It’s the lever that came with the fork, all I’ve done is pop a new cable on it.

Flummoxed.

Sort of yes, but sort of no.

The cable was tight with the pulley in the fully open position, for sure, but I worked out I had to turn the pulley a tad BEFORE tightening the cable up, so the floodgate would close all the way.

Durrrrrrrrr. I’m a fekkin Eejit.

We call this a Teddy Bear review at work, idea being you talk you Teddy through the problem and 9 times out of 10 you solve it without anyone’s help! Quite often I get so far as saying to someone “Quick question…” and no sooner have I said it, the answer pops in my head 😆

There was a giant teddy out the back of one of the bike shops I worked in a long while ago, it had a pair of handlebars next to it with ‘Bear beatin stick’ written on it.

Nasty customer = Bear got a beating = relaxed staff.

Kind of problems solving 😕
