I want to open up the air can and top up / check the lubricating oil in the can on my Monarch Plus. (I did this often on my Fox RP23). A couple of friends have ended up with black streaks on the shaft when the oil has run dry, warranty repaired, but the shocks had to go back for a few weeks.

The service guide suggests taking the air valve out completely from the can and the reservoir, is that really required ? Can I just remove all of the air and unscrew the body ? Thanks.

Yep you can just do the same sort of ait can service as on the fox. The online guides from SRAM seem to be a full strip. Check what lube you need though as I think they recommend grease rather than oil. Well, you can on the RT3 so I doubt the M+ is a millionaire miles off but don’t blame me if it explodes in a ball of flame as soon as you touch it…

    Thanks for the reply.

I have some 80w gearbox oil that I used on the fox, same as fox float, should be OK, I will change it regularly as I don’t want to let it run dry.
