Neighbours lad has an older Patriot with said forks.

I’ve given him some 140mm Pikes and front wheel to update his bike a bit.

But….how do I remove the triple crown Judy’s…?

    Thanks.

    With an Allen key…

You may also find a rubber mallet useful to tap the top crown off

    Wysiwyg,

Care to elaborate? I have obviously missed the subtle but in depth guidance you are hoping to impart so a simple hint may benefit simple and technically inept me.

    Thanks.

Loosen the three pinch bolts on the upper crown (one on each stanchion, one on the steerer) in order to remove it. Usually needs persuasion with rubber mallet… After that it’s the same as removing any fork.

Are they old straight steerer Pikes? Frame will only take straight steerers.

From the look of pics of them there is Allen bolts holding the top crown onto the legs and steerer so should be 3. These need slackening off, Stem and spacers off as well. If the crown doesn’t pull up it’ll need persuading with a soft blow hammer.

edit. Beaten to it but at least we agree.

Thanks. Bike not with me to do the swap, hence question for preparation purposes.

Yes, some straight steerer Pushed Pikes.

Short stem and wider bars for him too.

He’s an energetic 11 year old, so biking helps him burn off his energy and he is mad keen which us great.
