    I’m doing more road riding than ever these days and I do quite a varied programme of training including spin, cross training, road and MTB. What I’d like to do is get a bit more focused to improve my road strength and stamina, can anyone recommend any online guides that teach me the fundamentals without getting too anal about diet and heart rate??

    I’m fairly old school in this respect, and I would say keep doing this;
    spin, cross training, road and MTB.

    Cycling training is pretty specific, and to get good at road riding requires you to be specific in terms of road riding. The problem most of us face is a lack of time to do all the things we want to, so you’ve got to do the thing you want to get best at a lot more than the other things.

    Get out with others through the winter, club runs, chain gangs and so on.

    basically ride a bike on the road, ride long steady, and short fast, then over time you find that long is faster.

    Greg LeMond. “It never gets easier, you just go faster.”

    As an aside, why? i know it might sound a stupid question,but if your looking to race join a club and learn how to ride on wheels ASAP!!!!!
