Need to replace the brake cables on the road bike, so I ordered some from CRC, comes with a strange looking 10cm long-ish sectioned plastic snake thingy with a metal pointy end…What's that then?

There should be two, but to be honest I've never used them, even on carbon bars that dont have grooves. Just use pieces of carefully placed insulation tape before re-taping.

Hmmmmm, rightho, I don't think my bike has them at the minute anyway, and brakes seem to work just fine…
