I’ve decided I want a dropper for my cross bike, it gets ridden like an mtb and I only raise and drop it all the time anyway. It’s 27.2 so posts can be had pretty cheap so why not. Might even get an internal one and drill the frame to keep it tidy.

Anyway the remote is the problem. I am 1×10 so the left shifter is redundant, I converted mtb shifters for my mtbs and it must be possible to do a road one.

To save me trying to figure it out and maybe breaking an expensive shifter has anyone done this? Or know which particular component I’d need to file/hacksaw at?

Any dropper that works off a standard gear cable (with the barrel at the lever end) would likely work. I guess you’d need to determine whether the amount of cable pull was enough. If not then you might have to consider something like a Shiftmate

Should be enough pull, just need to remove the bit that stops it releasing
