    are they the same thread as mtb? Getting a second hand road bike for the winter, and don’t really want another set of pedals or shoes.

    Yes. MTB pedals are fine on a road bike.

    Yep but…. It is nice to have a clean set of shoes for the road and unless your in lots of traffic Road ones do feel better

    thanks folks! as this is my first (for 20yrs) foray into the world of road bikes, keeping things cheap/simple until bike to work kicks in later in the year then think about shinny new stuff…
