I’ve been thinking about getting a Road ID to wear when I’m on the road bike. I live in a reasonably rural area and there have been a few people clunked recently so thought its not a bad idea.
Has anybody bought one or know of a UK based alternative?

I have both and they seem just as good as each other.

Have one permanently on my MTB pack and one on my wrist when out on road or running. Don’t leave home without it, train mostly on my own so it is needed.

I have my name and emergency contact details clearly displayed on the lock screen of my phone.

Obviously no good if the phone gets smashed – but free to do so a useful measure to consider in addition to a Road ID. (Also potentially useful if you happen to lose your phone).

I have a road ID, bought direct from the US. Recently bought a replacement wrist strap for it and postage was mighty quick.

I use the one with the silicon strap, road ID elite I think it’s called, I like the buckle closure and silicon strap. Oil wipes off it with a baby wipe.

I always wear it when riding, even with friends, as most of them are unlikely to have my wife’s mobile number or know about my allergies.

I have one, there are lots of people with valid experience as to why they are not necessarily hugely helpful, but I wear one for peace of mind. (And that it’s purple and goes well with my livestrong yellow 😉 )

I bought YikesID direct from the states (http://www.yikesid.com).

Not endorsed by Levi Leipheimer (not that he is riding so much these days) but does the same job at half the price.

I have an engraved dogtag thats on my keys. Its a dual-purpose (incase someone finds the car keys etc) and only cost a fiver.

By the way you can get $10 off the price of a Go Sport ID by signing up to earndit and doing a bit of exercise:

Driving licence fits one of those crappy little pouches CRC and Wiggle stick on crappy little magazines. Add a fiver and you’re away.

I was trying to decide between the Road ID sport and elite, I’ve had watches with the same kind of strap as the sport before and they really start to ming after a while. Has anybody had this with the sport? I am tempted by it just because its $10 cheaper, not if its going to make me smell like a tramp though…

You can also get $10 off the Road ID if you sign up to Strava and achieve the challenge which is on next week – http://www.strava.com/challenges/road-id-lace-em-up-challenge

The challenge is to run 50 miles over the 7 days. Which could be tricky. But then I reckon you could get away with just cycling slowly. who’s gonna know!

I’ve been pondering one of these for a while now for when I’m out on the bike, or running. If you’re interested in Road ID then the promo code pc453665 gets you a 15% discount… swung it for me.

I wear the bog standard dog tag that Phil H has, though I quite like the neon yellow iceid bracelet.

Also quite tempted with the smaller kids sizes as well, now they are a bit older and allowed a bit more space for themselves.

I have the Road ID slim. Bought it direct from the US site.

Wear it every day, in part so people ask what it is and I can tell them how dangerous it is for cyclists, in the hope they’ll think a little more next time they drive.
