Hiya, I’m on the road bike a lot these days as I recover from the ‘Puffer cracked kneecap. Bloody good fun and great progress…

I’ve been tubeless on all the off-road bikes for ages. Transformed my riding experience. Strikes me that tubs are roughly the equivalent for road wheels, and they’ve made a real comeback. The lovely country lanes round here (East Lothian) have terrible surfaces and pinch-flats are a real pain.

Should I go and buy a pair of tub rims and some glue?

    Cheers, al.

In a word, no. Tubs still have inner tubes inside them so can still puncture pretty easily, what you can’t do however is fix them easily at the side of the road.

I race on tubs but don’t use them for general riding or training because of the puncture factor.

Not really. Tubeless road tyres are the equivalent of tubeless mtb tyres.

Ah, well. Thanks for setting me straight.

    Why are they good then?
