I’m looking for some recommendations on a self contained road bike front light, rather than something with a separate battery – I’ve got a solar storm x2 on the mountain bike but I want something smaller, more focussed, less spread, less clutter.

It has to be bright enough for some unlit country lanes, cycle paths, etc, and last a few hours.

    Chinese cheapness preferred 🙂

Ultrafire 501b and a exposure joystick mount.

The mount will be the most expensive part, but you’ll want something solid.

Won’t last a few hours on high, but you wouldnt want it on high on the road very often, last ages on low.

There’s an option for Torchy the battery boy (big f d d on ebay I think), can’t remember the model but it seemed to go down quite well with a few folks

I use a B&M Ixus – proper beam pattern for not dazzling drivers and perfectly fine at the speeds I ride at.

B&M Ixus premium FTW. Takes rechargeable AA batteries.
