just wondering weather they would be strong enough or if they would work?
Anyone tried it or am I wasting my time?

not about strength IMO, just the terrible position you'll have on the bike, how are you going to brake on the drops?

Plenty strong enough. But what is your goal?

tree-magnet may be able to help you. Although he denies it was a road bike – he called it a 'commuter'.

its for trying something different and you never know, I might like it. The brakes will probably be on top but might sort out some kind of contraption, (welding time :D)

good luck, tomac used it DH so was always on the drops.. having brakes on the tops will mean you'll need your hands up there on techie stuff, giving you a very narrow grip and sitting quite upright, so not as stable?

I do believe Tomac did it to keep the position similar to his road bike when he rode for Motorola.
