    I have a stack of old rave, d&b and techno tape packs that I want to rip before shoving the lot in to storage. Whats free and or the best way of going about it.?
    I have a tape deck with a line out and a shite load of space on a hard drive, I just need some software.

    Cheers.

    Audacity will record from line in (and much more);

    Although, if you’re on a windows PC there usually an application called Sound Recorder in the Accessories section of the Programs menu. Having said that though, it’s very basic, you’d get more options with Audacity.

    I reckon this should meet your needs.

    Audacity

    I was slow by seconds there.

    Another (redundant) vote for Audacity.
