I bet he wanted burying rather than cremating.

In 200 years time some archeologist will dig him up, and state he invented tv archaelogy for the masses.

Oh, that’s a real shame, always came across as a lovely, enthusiastic bloke, who really cared about his subject. RIP, Mick. 🙁

I actually got him mixed up with Phil, I thought Phil had died.

Mick was still a top bloke and it is very sad that he has died so young.

Phil was the star of the show for me though.

Yep, sad news. The program really dropped in quality when he left.

I’m sure lots of bearded archeologists will be raising a real ale or three to him tonight

Mick will be justly remembered for Time Team – and for pioneering what would become “community archaeology”. He did a huge amount for public engagement & education, and worked tirelessly to that end. Expert without being patronising, Mick understood how popular enthusiasm has always been the bedrock of the subject (ever since the formative years of the great Victorian County Societies).

He was out-standing in his field… and what more can one say of a great archaeologist than that? RIP Mick – you will be missed.

    (Noteeth – ex-archaeologist).
