If I was going to build up some 27.5 wheels to run 2.8″ tyres on my 29er, what are good wide, light rims?

Would depend on how much clearance your frame has. A wider rim may make it moot.

WTB KOM I25’s would be ideal, nice & wide UST mounting very easy & reasonably strong with low weight.

I’ve smashed the **** out of a ryde trace enduro in 5 odd rides.
Replaced with a DT swiss EX471.

KOMi25 aren’t really that wide though are they? As least not compared with Scrapers etc. I thought 25mm was sort of the minimum for these plus sized tyres.

Pressure is critical with B+. Skinny rims limit pressure range and for a tyre that size -and the 2.8s aren’t that big really- 25mm internal would be too limiting. 30mm min, 45mm better. The main point of these tyres is cush and cornering grip so why bother with the tyre but not the ideal rim? It’s a package, imo.
