    Out on a ride tomorrow, early start, rim tape needs replacing.

    Is insulation tape of gaffer tape a suitable alternative as I can't get to a shop between now and tomorrow morning.

    I used to use a couple of rounds of insulating tape for a year or so at a time, as long as the rim survived. If your spokes are the correct length it's fine. If your spokes are too long then it'll last about 5 miles….

    No worries on the spokes they're well inside the rim
