I’ve got a 2010 Giant Reign X, and i’ve been using pro2 on EX729 wheels on it. I’ve been riding xc, trail centres and some aggressive trails, and i’ve come to the decision that i need some lighter wheels. (The ex729 rims are near 700g each!) I also ride a fair bit of DH, so i needed these strong rims.
I’m looking to get some pro 2 evo hubs, but i don’t know what rim to go for. I want something that’s not a mavic EX series rim, as i’ll be keeping my current wheelset for DH days, but i also don’t want something thats all and out XC. I’d like something inbetween.
I’d like a set of wheels that are light enough to ride on all day, and are strong enough to take a little bit of a beating, but i don’t want them to be heavy. A sort of enduro/aggressive XC rim would probably be ideal.
as for budget, a set of wheels for around £300 +/- 10pc is what i’d like to spend.
By all means recommend some different hubs, but they’ll need to be 20mm front and 135x12mm rear.
