Always try to get out for a ride on New Year’s Day. Usually just round the woods at the back of the house but any ride’s better than no ride. Where has everyone else been out to today?

Just down to beach for a ‘test’ ride after waxing chain and changing grips.

Went out yesterday and basically did a re-enactment of the Battle of the Somme. Without the bullets and death, obviously. But it is pretty filthy around my way at the moment.

Went for an xc ski in the woods round the back of my house, was well nice. Happy New year all

Swinley fun slopfest. Mrs Weeksy isn’t loving the beach in the washing machine now.

So wet around Mugdock might have been better with a canoe, surprised that the cafe was open… although left my 2nd pair of gloves in the car and my hands got cold after we stopped.

A nice couple of hours on the commuter for no good reason before the sun came up. I like to see the sun come up on NYD, as long as the weather isn’t crap I try to do it every year.

Dumbbot – I was surprised how decent Mugdock was riding – expected it to be much worse.

Plenty trails like Mangina that would be worth steering clear of for a while though….

A quick bimble up, down, around, up again and finally down Bredon Hill on Lazy the e-Bike.

Heavy rain made all the mud friendlier in Kent today 😕

Then back to Perranporth in the afternoon, including a bracing swim.

Kayak23; I spent New Year in Perranporth too. I’m surprised I didn’t see your fat bike while we were out for our NYD walk on the beach!

    Outlaw lives in Bolingey 😆

    Edited to add; I didn’t get a ride in 2018 yet 🙁

    Ah!
NYE ride at Perranporth, NYD ride was Watergate.

The wind at Perranporth on NYD was properly mental. Still got my traditional ‘swim’ in though. 🙂

Normal loop in minging conditions in North Yorks. The sort of day when you and the roadies are united in your suffering.

    Similar to OP…

    Rocket…check
    Local…check
Wet ‘n’ muddy..check (really could do with grippier tyres)

    What’s all that white stuff?
Lovely dusty 20 degree riding all day on the 1st, managed to get in a good 30km and meet some very handy bike riders visiting for a few days.

Conditions were crap but the view was pretty sweet and the trail I went looking for was bone dry.

Meanwhile yesterday was the first time I’ve ever ridden Mangina! Could tell it was one to come back to in dryer weather.
