So pretty much got my mind made up on my new bike
Medium frame but on my bike just now I use a reverb 125mm and still have to lift the actual post out the frame about 4″ and then slam it out the way when doing the hard techy decsents

Will I be ok with a 150mm or better on a 170mm reverb for my new bike.not sure if the 170 would have to much strain on post and frame

    Cheers

Does your new frame have the same length of seat-tube from ctr-to-ctr ?

It doesn’t help us answer the question when you’re only telling us the situation with your current frame.

With some models of Reverbs, the longer the extension, the longer the length of the main tube that fits inside your bike’s frame. This compensates for the extra leverage the extended section will create with longer versions. So in theory, longer Reverb models won’t create more risk of damage to your frame.

The chart below might help, but it’s out of date and doesn’t include the 170mm version (I didn’t even know what version existed). You need to find out the ‘E’ length of the 170mm Reverb and figure out whether it’ll be at it’s limit in your new frame.
