  • Retrofit disc brake to road frame?

After our ride today, talk in the pub turned to disc brakes on road bikes.

Anyone ever considered using something like to the old A2Z disc adapters that you used to fit on MTB’s to allow you to run discs?

Any reason why it wouldn’t work?

Most non-disc MTB frames are pretty tough and would be ok with a disc adaptor.
I would think the same on a road bike would risk damage to the frame. It might work ok but I don’t think I’d bother. Also the adaptors generally need a largish flat dropout which most road bikes won’t have.

I was thinking the exact same thing the other day, how much would it cost to have a proper one fitted to a steel frame?
