Want to go from a 50:34 Compact to something a bit more touring friendly… Any ideas of best place and indeed manufacturer of ( smaller) but 105 5700 compatible rings?

usually does me, but i’m not all that fussy! As for compatability, any 110 BCD should fit.

Nick 33 is the smallest you can fit on that chainset (made by TA iirc), though obviously you’ll be able to swap for something smaller on the big ring no problem.

    Cheers Rich.

Would an MTB chainset work with 5700?

If you can drop the front mech lower on the seat tube you should be able to run a mtb chainset, else the chain will catch on the cage in the inner ring.
