any ideas? can’t for the life of me get it off. think one of the problems is it’s on a hub that’s not part of a wheel so nothing really to hold on to other than the chainwhip and socket handle… will boiling water help? plusgas?

Try a good sized adjustable spanner on the lock ring removal tool. the teeth on the lock ring tend to bite a bit and needs a bit of leverage. Also put the wheel on something softish, but offereing a bit of friction and wedge the rim between your feet.

failing that, whack with a big hammer (maybe!)

Im guessing by the hub thats not part of a wheel bit that he cant put the rim between his feet!!!!

Id pop the lockring tool in a vice vertically and then go from there…. Have you got one with a long pin to line it up? Helps hold it in place then.

Lockring tool on, qr thru it to hold it in place, arrange the chainwhip and big spanner so the hub is on the ground and the handle of each tool is a couple of inches above the ground and get your whole weight on it and bounce on it?
