    Can this be done? Just picked up my new bike and it’s got those stupid pointless things on and I want to get rid of them!

    I haven’t seen the new deores, but it always used to be that you could remove the indicators from LX(SLX) and above, not from deore.

    Ok, that’s a shame. I know you can unscrew the covers I think, but did’t know if you could get covers for the hole that will be left?

    For XT, just undo the two screws. The cover is situated under the indicator, is clipped back in and secured with one of the screws – 5 minute job.

    Not sure about Deore though…

    Just cover the hole with gaffer tape. Make sure you cover it well and the tape stays in position as you don’t want a load of mud and grit in there.
