I’m removing the Shimano Tiagra crank from my new Giant Defy Carbon 3. I’ve taken the left arm off easily but the drive side wont slide out as they seem to with conventional external bottom brackets. Do I need to give it a firm tap with a rubber mallet or is there a shim or retaining cover I need to remove first? I don’t want to start attacking it blindly. Cheers.

Sorted…I took a brave pill and gave it a few firm taps with a rubber mallet. Came out smoothly.
