I’ve had a right ‘mare…whilst removing my chainset, the BB’s inner race and bearing spacer came off with it! I’ve managed to get them off the chainset’s axle, although I’ve just about destroyed the plastic bearing spacer. Has anyone else had this happen? I’ve tried tapping the race back in but it doesn’t want to go…I could tap it a lot harder, but I’m wary of breaking the bearing cage (plastic!).

I’m thinking of taking it to my local car garage and seeing if they can press it back in for me (using a press of all things).

Any help would be great, cheers.

Happened to me, I I just tapped it back in with a hammer and used a lot of anti-seize when I reassembled the whole thing. Pain in the butt. 😐

No, a Race Face Sixc. The axle had a bit of surface rust. I’d always used their Deus Ex chainsets without a problem. It hadn’t been removed since fitted though and it has done at least 2000K.

    EDIT: Cheers BadlyWiredDog.
