    Right all,

    What’s your best tips when bleeding hope tech brakes to reduce the distance to bite point.

    Bleeding with the bp screwed out, then centralizing the pads does well, but still a bit baggy!

    Bleeding from the bottom with a syringe and actually following the proper hope advice on what to do wht the lever at the end. If it has to much throw there is air in the system.

    Interesting. The hope video says fresh fluid from lever. You squeeze it up from the caliper?

    yes its not what they advise but you can see the bubbles rising out in the lever
    As air is lighter you get a better bleed IMHO and ts quicker and easier but you need the pads out and the caliper off the bike. Some will leak from the bleed but its not that important – clean up afterwards and makes sure its off paintwork.

    SOme argue its not good for the seals to do this but I have always done it this way and never had an issue personally – you need the pads out and a caliper wedge or you will just shoot your pistons out.

    Essentially attach a tube as you do to bleed as per Hope but put a syringe on that, open bleed port 1/4 turn – Squeeze.
    Another syringe to collect what comes up.
    Stop when the bubbles top / you have flushed it. 50 ml of fluid is more than enough to achieve this and some.
    Very quick once you have got to the point you can do this

    If the brake feels firm, but there’s a lot of throw, just remove the wheel from the bike, partially compress the lever, release and re-insert the wheel. This will slowly ( after each repeat) move the pads further out until almost in contact with the disc. once the pads are almost/are in contact wind OUT the BPC until the disc rolls freely and reset your lever position.

    I always bleed from the top with Tech 3s as they don’t have the same bleed problems as Tech 2s. Just make sure that its a straightish gradient between the calliper and the lever.

    As others have said bleed from the bottom up. Encourage air up and out on its natural path instead of trying to force it downstream.

    Another tip is, if you’re careful, bleed the brakes with the pads in situ. This will enable a firmer lever in most cases as you will actually overfill the system with fluid. Not a problem until you come to replace the pads when you may need to expel a slight amount of fluid to get the Pistons pushed back. Just don’t get fluid on the pads.
