Anyone?
White Idustry ones look too expensive (as it's a first time, suck it and see experiment), Shimano on CRC look fine. Any other choices / cheap places?
Thinking 16T as it's vaguely hilly round me and I'm unfit and I don't do SS 
Also thinking tensioner from Superstar or On One. Anything else that's better but in the "reasonably priced" category?

If you're just trying it out, why are you even bothering with a SS specific wheel?
Why not use spacers and a SS cog?
(or are you confused? You can't fit a SS freewheel to a regular geared wheel. Need the right sort of hub for it)
Already got a Spot SS rear wheel.
shimano will be fine to try it out, but bin it the first instant it starts making noises.
If you reckon you're unfit and in a hilly area, 17t or 18t might make more sense. As above, if it's for a short term tryout, then Shimano or ACS (I've had more luck with ACS, but only just) then, if you decide you like it, remove that freewheel right away and replace with a White Industries one.
I think all those push down tensioners, as superstar actually say, are exactly the same, superstar seem to have a slightly different too with a sealed bearing
