    As thread title.

Just has to be new/ish, and good.

    Thanks!

I watched it on a plane, so bear that in mind. If currys were horror films, it would be stronger than a Korma, perhaps a mild Dhansak.

Tucker and Dale vs Evil. Spoof “cabin in the woods” slasher movie. It’s ace.

Come to that, The Cabin in the Woods.

‘The Strangers’ was probably the best I’ve ever seen, it’s a few years old now.

    ‘IT’ is very good too.

Second vote for IT. A great film and a decent horror

    Martyrs – utterly disturbing.

Watched The Conjuring the other day. Not a bad film if you like things like the old amityville horror type film.

    “The Babadook.”

IT was great, but it’s not a horror. Not a single scare in it and I’m a big girls blouse normally

If you haven’t seen it check out “The VVitch”. Not a horror film as such, but still. Probably my favorite film of the last five years.

Green Room is worth a shout too if you want something intense and somewhat grounded in reality.

    Martyrs

Yes a bit too scary in parts. What about The Babadook or the The Witch (2015).

Going back a bit but I rate Wolf Creek too.

I actually find some of the horror shorts on YouTube terrifying.

    Like this one:

Agree with The strangers,i found it really creepy, always find the nutty people with masks on horror more scary.

Autopsy of Jane Doe is suitably creepy.

Thanks for those. We’re on Scream 2, which Mrs Knob hasn’t seen yet. Might graduate to the Omen later.

‘The autopsy of Jane doe’. (2015)
Quite creepy, and reminded me of ‘jagged edge’ from way back…maintains a suspended air of mystery. Nice twist at the end!!

Sad to say the Omen has dated a bit. I still like it but the wife wasn’t able to respect it. The remake is surprisingly not terrible. It’s a fairly faithful retelling, unlike others.

I would echo others above recommending the Babadook too. You might also want to take a read of this thread since Scream 2 probably won’t require your full attention 😉

not particularly new (edit; just checked IMDB and it’s from 2005 😯 )but The Descent is one of the best I’ve ever seen. The UK not US edit.

The Prophecy. A story of heaven and hell fighting over a hidden soul. Christopher Walken is peak Walken as Gabriel and (a very early appearance of) Viggo Mortenson is superb as Satan, managing to be absolutely repugnant whilst looking entirely human.

Kill List from a few years ago is worth a watch.

    All depends on context.

As a training aid for the StrathPuffer, I recommend watching “Dog Soldiers” before night riding practice in the woods.

    Let Us Prey is good.

As Above So Below is alright, it made the missus scream at one point!

Kill list is awesome! A mile away from any of the mainstream scary stuff.

2nd for both Cabin in the Woods and The Conjuring. The sequel wasn’t bad either

Watched this last night. Was very good until the last act. But plenty of good scares and the setting worked really well.

    Brian Cox is great.

Another vote for The Descent, and for ‘Let the right one in’ original scandi with subtitles, I’ve not seen the US remake, but the original is great.

The remake is very faithful and doesn’t really suffer in comparison to the original.
