I know, I know! I find it a little embarrassing myself. To colour code that is… 😳
Still I’m looking for grey components (light, stiff, XC use, comparable to Thomson Elite) to complement my stealthy grey DT Swiss M1600 wheels. Not sure if brushed titanium would work. Probably too light. Colour-wise that is.
Looking for stealth grey:
– stem 80-90mm, 25.4, 0-10°
– seatpost 27.2, >360mm
– cranks 175mm (triple should be possible)
The rest of the stuff will be black or metal with odd red decals, forks are white.
Also want to avoid flashy graphics on the parts (wheels and forks will be de-decaled).
All of which will go on a custard-coloured Soul that might eventually turn petrol-blue/green.
The idea is to have a discreetly but nicely matched combo with less stark contrast than the current black bits.
And I don’t mind at all seeing pictures with grey parts for inspiration! 😉
Sunline are a bit odd in that the finish to their grey V1 range is different depending on which item you have; I tried to get a matching finishing kit and failed miserably.
Their bars look shot peened, the stem is a smooth anodized finish and the seat post is different again with tiny rings.
While Hope’s blue-ish gunsmoke might work with the tbc later blue-green colour of the frame it’s not going to match well with either the current custard nor the stealthy grey rims AND the seatpost comes in black only…
So let’s google anodisersteve and if he can due a true gunmetal colour or such like and how costly it is because if it starts to get a little more complicated/silly I will just default to good old black and happily live with some minor miss-matching of some sort…
yep, XTRs very stealthy! maybe I’ve got to look 2nd hand to:
– find finishing kit from suppliers that tried to jump on the XTR-grey bandwagon in those years
– or abrased former black components
Funny enough my M975 XTR brakes have a blueish-grey coating similar to Hope’s gunsmoke… 😕
But they will go anyway. No good travel or bite point adjust.
