Im wanting to dump my Mavic EN 521 wheels to add some acceleration to my riding. Can somebody recommend some wheels that are around the 1600g mark and are strong enough for trail centre bashing in wales.

American Classic All Mountain £500ish or Spank Oozy Evo £350ish.

Running AC and they are great…especially being really wide, no need for tyres levers on tyres over 2.2 too!

Crossmax sx or crosstrails

Roval Traversee EL if you can find ’em. Basically a DT240S hub set on Stans rip-off rims. I’ve beaten one of mine to death, but it took a ridiculous amount of punishment for a lightweight wheel. They were silly expensive originally but the price dropped to £350-ish.

Crossmax SX is way off the weight, but excellent.

Bootsy has some AM classic wheels in the classifieds for £375…could be worth a look.

How many money?

Strong enough for a trail centre in Wales = almost anything, surely. I like them as much as the next man but they’re not generally too rocky or hard on wheels.
