The Mrs wants to buy me some new bike clothes for my birthday and I need a couple of long sleeve jerseys for the upcoming cold stuff.

I’m not really into the ‘extreme’ look i.e. super baggy DH stuff or XC lycra so trail baggy / relaxed fit is the order of the day.

Something along this line would be ideal; http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/it/it/polaris-am-pilgrim-long-sleeve-jersey/rp-prod90743#

Agree with Ton. My fave top is a quite thin long sleeve for about a fiver from Decathlon. Sizing is random though so go in store if poss.

Something warmer, I like the DHB windslam long sleeve jerseys, again a slightly relaxed fit. Body is windproof arms aren’t.

Scott jerseys at Start cycles are cheap and not that baggy.

I got some dhb ones from Wiggle last week and I really like them so far. Pretty thin and comfortable. Not particularly warm but I layer them up when it’s too cold anyway.

dhb Windslam from Wiggle is perfect for Spring and Autumn; the body has a closely-woven textile, which keeps the wind off you. Worn with a smelly Helly underneath it’s a versatile jersey. It comes in a nice petrol and black colour now, very smart.

Another very worthwhile garment for chillier days is dhb’s 3/4 Roubaix bib tight, which is fleecy lined. The pad is excellent and the fleece keeps those thigh muscles at just the right temperature.

Both of these are my favourite cycling garments.

LIke the fit of Polaris stuff.

For winter months I get away with the Niteride on it’s own or sub zero with another thin top underneath.

Would compare it to the Endura MT500 top (which I’f also recommend). Bit thicker than the one you’ve linked to.

A slight tangent but I’d recommend arm warmers – keep your regular jersies and make them more versatile and flexible mid-ride. I’ve not bought another LS jersey since discovering them years ago (Obviously LS thermal tops for proper cold weather have a place but for this time of year armwarmers are ideal).

Have a look for a Fox Monitor jersey. Very light but also incredibly dense fabric – windproof, quick drying and versatile.

Great cut for MTBing angled wrists/waist & dropped collar

Wore mine all through last winter with a windstopper base layer great combo without feeling like an astronaut or a deep sea diver

Get an endura mt500 burner jersey http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/endura-mt500-burner-ii-ls-jersey/rp-prod112693 and a decent baselayer

I’ve got a long sleeve Endura Humvee which is very nice!

If it was me I’d just order a load from Wiggle or CRC and return the ones I didn’t want for free. Or go down the LBS and buy from there.

another vote for LS baselayer and short sleeve jersey over – it’s amazing just how much of the year this combo works for

it’s only when you get to December to February that you need baslayer and jacket
