As above – any good pubs, restaurants or cafe’s within easy reach of Gorsebank camping village? I’m going up this weekend 🙂

The Anchor in Kipford.

We stayed at Gorsebank week before last, great place. We we in the Dee wigwam. Bike storage as well which was a plus.

The owners of Gorsebank recommended going to Kippford instead of Dalbeattie to eat. We ended up in the Anchor Inn, nice wee pub with great food and good atmosphere.

Next day after Dalbeattie we stopped in the cafe just as you come out of Dalbeattie trail centre and turn right . Basic but cracking paninis.

The Granite Kitchen in Dalbeattie is rather good, pretty much everything is made fresh by Amy (yeah ok, i know her but her food is better than anything else in Dalbeattie), lots of healthy organic wholefood options and plenty enough to satisfy the meat eaters as well.

We stay in Dalbeattie frequently and can heartily recommend Luigis italian in the town. Genrous portions good service and very resonable. Stear clear of the two pubs in Kippford. Overpriced microwave food generally aimed at those staying in the adjacent caravan park.

Can be accessed from the trailhead car park, need to park at opposite end from pay machine and go through red/white single bar gate. Just make sure bikes are locked/secure etc. Not been any thefts so far this year that I have heard about but there were a few in the area last year.
