Mostly planning to use these for some winter road riding, at the moment I’m looking at the Howies 3/4 bib shorts – is there anything else in a similar price (£65) range worth looking at?

The Howies ones aren’t that warm but otherwise I really like mine. I’ve been wearing mine with the unpadded bib tights over the top and that works well

The Northwave and Funkier winter bibs are good. Northwave occasionally turn up on Sportspursuit. Funkier do a waterproof (so they claim) 3/4 that is quite warm, zipper tags come off though. The NW ones are too cold for me in sub-zero temps.

DHB from CRC/ Wiggle are always spot on IMHO.

I ordered a set of the Madison Addict shorts in error, actually wanted summer weight 3/4 bibs (any recommendations?). Anyway, they seem excellent quality, rain resistant, very nicely made and a decent pad. They’re £30 on the Tweeks Cycles eb-ay page.

RH+ on Sports Pursuits are good, nice Italian fit and very well made. I also bought roubaix versions to replace some old Di Marchis.

Thanks, can’t see a brand called RH+ on there?

    Maybe all sold?

I have some pretty old Enduras. Other than the decals coming off pretty quickly and some stitching repair they’ve been great. Roubaix lined too, so genuine autumn/winter knickers.

The Endura MT500 range uses a thicker (but not Roubaix-style) lycra.

The new Lusso ones are excellent, very reasonably priced and made in Manchester too.

I’m a big fan of winter shorts and leg or knee warmers to suit. The specialised expert are a snip under £50 at Cyclestore at the moment and are very good.

The Howies one I have are very poor quality and coming apart at the seams. The ones by Galibier have been great:

I’ve just put some size large in my basket. XL & XXL also there.

Ive tried quite a few different 3/4 bibs and Morvelo are by far the best. Warm and very comfortable pad. The Howies are OK too but use them in spring and autumn.

I’ve had some dhb ones for what must be coming on for 9 years. They’re well made, comfortable, good temperature etc. They’re ace

Thanks for the advice, I’ll skip the Howies then based on the feedback the Scott All Season look a bargain, what’s the sizing like on the Scott All season bibs? My waist is 32 at the monment ( probably closer to 34 given its just past Xmas ) I’m a Large in Howies stuff and XL in the odd bit of Rapha kit I own.
Edit: The Fit says athletic so I’m guessing probably Large.

Castelli Nanoflex – they are light fleece lined. Fine for me down to about 5 degrees depending on what else I’m wearing.

Fine in the summer too when it’s a bit cooler or when it’s an early start/late finish.

@pictonroad what is the sizing like on the Addict 3/4s? I’m between medium and large on their size chart for waist size but am large in everything from other brands.

I haven’t tried them, was going to send them straight back, I’m after summer weight 3/4.

DrP is going to try them on, I can take detailed photos if you like, he’s not shy.

Cheers but I managed to find this madison sizing guide with real world comments https://www.cyclebasket.com/info/clothing-sizes.php so I’ll go for a medium.
I’ve a pair of the howies 3/4s and they’re an early Autumn/spring thickness, and a pair of morvelo stormshield 3/4s which are bloody good and I wore up til end of November. So too warm for you.

This is good news. I took a punt on these last night, even though I couldn’t find any reviews anywhere. I reasoned that, as the other Addict clobber was getting good reviews, these must be OK.
