Looking to upgrade my headset puller from a screwdriver and mallet to proper tool. Can anyone recommend a cheap removal tool that works with both 1 1/8 and 1 1/2 inch headsets?

I bought one of these from SuperStar ages ago.

I got the 1 1/8th one and hen taking the bottom cups out of a tapered headtube found that it’s possible to flare the legs out a bit more to do the job very well so it’s not necessary to buy the larger version as well.

Will that also work on a pressfit BB?

I was about to recommend a screwdriver and BBH combo but it seems you want to downgrade to a less versatile toolkit 😕

I use a 12″ piece of copper pipe, 4 x 2.5″ cuts down from the end, then flared with a wooden bung in the other end for whaling on.

oldnpastit – internal diameter of press fit is 1.6 inches, so should just about fit a press fit bottom bracket with a bit of persuasion, I assume.

Yep, I’ve used mine on a BB92, anyway.

Get an okd seat post and cut (hacksaw) 4 2 inch sections straight then prize open so it will fit around cups inside headtube after filing down sharp edges of course.

Then place inside headtube tapping out equal amounts around the cup.

I use a mallet and a bit of wood. Didn’t realise there were proper tools.
