Having just managed to buckle another rear wheel (beyond repair) I am in need of a strong replacement.
I'm 15 stone and ride a hardtail without anything remotely close to finesse, needs to be cheap in preference to light but main issue is strength.
Also looking for some advice on spokes, probably a daft question but how do you work out what length you need and wheres cheap?

Mavic XM321. Tough as old boots and chrap too.
For spokes you need a spoke calculator, there's one on the DT Swiss website.
That said, a good build is as important as a strong rim! 
ive been running Halo Freedom Disc and Spank Subrosa for the last 3-4 years, the spanks are bomb proof, im 16st with the gear on...
I had a 36 spoke sun mtx, on pro2, took me three years to mangle it, but mangle it i eventually did(cracked rim)! Although it is still running, albeit with a temporary fix.
A slight 17 stone here! 
Googling xm321 only seemed to come up with complete wheels.
I actually have a Sun Ringle MTX on the front, it's pretty cheap and gets good reviews so I have ordered a 36h MTX 31 for the back.
Ordered some DB spokes (hopefully calculated the length right), planning to lace it up myself and get my LBS to finish it off, sound like a decent plan?
18 stone on old Mavic F219's (same as the xm321 I think) here on my hardtail and they must be 7 years old and still straight. The rear has had had the xt hub replaced twice in that time to give you some idea of usage.
I've got 321s, 721s, Flows, Sun Ringle SOS and 823s. I weigh 18st in bike kit with a camelbak. They have all been pretty bomb proof. I've had to true the SOS and 721s. I have the most confidence in the 823s but the Flows seem to be the best compromise between strength and weight.
