I have a 10 year old Canon Ixus I’m looking to replace. My budget is £250 and my wish list of features are:

    -GPS for geotagging
-Sports mode for fast moving capture
    -HD video recording

    What do you recommend?

Loving my Sony HX9v at the moment. Full HD @ 1080p, 16x zoom and 10fps full resolution burst mode, fast intelligent auto-everything mode and great low light pics with clever trickery. Similar specs to the comparative Panasonic models but just a bit…. nicer (IMHO – recent convert from a Lumix)

mrs rocket likes her cameras and has a Panasonic TZ something or other

I’m not into photography but the TZ takes very flattering pictures – not what I’d call realistic but rich vibrant sharp pictures that look much more awesome than real life and look great on the TV/computer etc.

Of course the TZ won’t capture things like an SLR does but it has a mind-blowing zoom capability I think it’s 14x optical and it can record video in HD.

If you just want to take pictures and not faff around with lenses and settings I can highly recommend it.
